On June 2nd, the CEO of YG Entertainment Yang Hyunseok posted on the YG Entertainment blog and revealed his thoughts on Big Bang Daesung's current situation with the title “About Daesung and the accident."
He writes, "I was really worried about Daesung because when something around him goes wrong, he always blames himself. And as I worried, he is not willing to see anyone right now and is just staying in his own room by himself.”
"I know nothing can really help him right now, but I visited him and said 'it would have been really hard for me too if I was in your position.' And this is not only to cheer him up but also what I think.”
"I know that what Daesung is going through right now is nothing compare to the family of the victim of the accident, but I am worried about Daesung because after these type of big accidents or shocks, many people go through a very serious mental issue shortly for months, years, or just forever.”
“Also since Daesung was almost killed in his last car accident in 2009, he must be really suffering right now. Right now might be the hardest time of his life.”
On the morning of June 1st, the autopsy on the motorcyclist involved in the said car accident was performed. The police in charge of the investigation told Newsen, "This morning the autopsy was performed. This is to figure out if the victim was already dead or if Daesung killed the victim. The result will come out in approximately 2 to 3 weeks.”
Depending on the autopsy results, it will determine what the police will charge Daesung or not.
Police also revealed that they have checked the taxi's black box that Daesung had reared ended, which confirmed Daesung's story he told them when he was questioned.
On May 31st, it was reported that Big Bang's Daesung had been involved in a serious car accident with the possibilities of one casualty. Daesung has been on his way to visit his parents in his Audi and driving across the Yanghwa Bridge at 1:30AM when the accident occurred.
While reports at the time that began pouring on news site did not match, it was later confirmed that Daesung had run over a motorcyclist lying in the streets already hurt from another accident and then hit the taxi in front of him that had stopped to help the motorcyclist.
The motorcyclist, identified via his surname Hyun (30), was confirmed dead at the scene. Police said, "According to the taxi driver's account and images from a black box installed in the taxi, Hyun was lying on the ground before Daesung hit him, while the taxi driver had stopped his car in order to assess the situation. It looks like Daesung's car hit Hyun, and crashed into the taxi as the taxi driver was calling the police."
When Daesung was questioned by police, the singer revealed that he had "felt something" and proceeded to hit the brakes on his car, but for some reason the brakes failed. Police released a statement saying, "No skid marks were found at the scene. It is most likely that he failed to brake."
YG Entertainment some time later revealed that Daesung, under a state of shock, had told police he was driving 80km/h when the speed limit was 60km/h, but in reality was following speed limit laws. It has also been confirmed that Daesung was not under the influence that night.
Koreaboo will keep you updated as we learn more, as there are numerous conflicting reports. There are also reports on a second investigation being underway privately.
